What happens in the brain when we experience compassion? And how can understanding the neuroscience of compassion transform the way we think about Dyspraxia across the lifespan?

Compassion is far more than simply "being kind." Advances in neuroscience consistently demonstrate that compassionate experiences can influence the brain systems involved in threat detection, emotional regulation, attention, learning, motivation, and social connection. By understanding how these systems interact, we gain fascinating insights into the brain's remarkable capacity to adapt, recover, and flourish.

Living with Dyspraxia often involves much more than differences in coordination. Across childhood, adolescence, and adulthood, many people experience challenges with executive functioning, confidence, emotional wellbeing, relationships and the cumulative effects of repeatedly feeling misunderstood, criticised, or the need to work harder than their peers. These experiences can shape the brain's threat and stress systems over time, influencing how we think, feel, and respond to the world.

In this webinar, Clinical Psychologist Dr Ríon O'Farrell Walsh, explores the neuroscience of compassion and its relevance to Dyspraxia across the lifespan. Drawing on contemporary neuroscience, psychology, and clinical practice, the session will explain how the development of a compassionate practice can help create the conditions for emotional regulation, learning, resilience, and wellbeing.

Whether you are a person with Dyspraxia, a family member, educator, employer, healthcare professional, or simply curious about the human brain, this webinar will translate complex neuroscience into clear, accessible, practical, and thought-provoking ideas that can change the way we understand ourselves and one another.
