Music Therapy Services

What is music therapy?

Music therapy is an evidence-based therapeutic intervention delivered by a qualified music therapist. It uses music as intentianally to enhance wellbeing, support emotional regulation, communication and improve confidence.

Simon Brody, MA Music Therapy, has been working therapeutically with teenagers and children with Dyspraxia since 2021, creating a safe and supportive space for self expression.

For neurodivergent young people, music can provide a powerful way to:

  • Express emotions safely
  • Build self-confidence
  • Develop communication skills
  • Strengthen social connection
  • Improve emotional regulation

Music therapy is not about musical ability. It’s about using music as a pathway for development and growth.

How music therapy can help you

Attention and Focus

Using musical activities we improve attention span, concentration, and focus for children and adolescents with Dyspraxia or ADHD and attention-related challenges.

Communication and Social Skills

Through interactive sessions, we create a safe and supportive space to explore emotions. Enhancing communication and belonging for children and adolescents with Dyspraxia and social difficulties.

Self-expression and Self-esteem

Our sessions encourage creative self-expression, aid in building self-confidence, and help to foster a more positive self-image. We work together to alleviate anxiety and promote positive mental health.

Group Music Therapy ‘Songwriters Club’

The Songwriters Club is a therapeutic group programme where young people across Ireland collaborate to write and record original songs in a structured and supportive environment.

Through guided songwriting and creative exploration, participants develop:

  • Confidence in self-expression
  • Social and teamwork skills
  • Emotional awareness
  • Peer connection
  • A stronger sense of identity

This is not a music class or performance group, but is a safe therapeutic space designed to support wellbeing, connection and growth through creativity.

Who is it for?

  • Have Dyspraxia (DCD)
  • Experience anxiety
  • Struggle with confidence or social communication
  • You enjoy creative writing and thinking outside the box
  • Looking to make friends or meet likeminded people
  • No musical knowledge necessary but always welcome if you have musical experience!

Music offers an alternative way to communicate and connect

Why Music Therapy?

Some people find it difficult to put feelings into words, music offers another pathway.

  • There is no pressure to perform
  • There is no ‘right’ or ‘wrong’
  • The focus is on growth, not musical skill
