There is currently no dedicated adult DCD diagnostic pathway within the HSE, and adult primary care occupational therapy services do not provide diagnostic assessment for DCD. Adults who experience difficulties with fine motor skills, gross motor skills, motor planning, or coordination can contact their local HSE Primary Care service to enquire about an Occupational Therapy (OT) assessment. A formal diagnosis or assessment of Developmental Coordination Disorder (DCD/Dyspraxia) is not always required to seek OT support, although access to services and eligibility may vary by area and service capacity.
At the moment in order to obtain an assessment you will have to contact an Occupational Therapist (OT) privately.

We recommend that when you contact an OT that you do ask any questions that you have prior to committing to a particular service. Questions may include: the experience of the OT in diagnosing adults with DCD, what the assessment will entail, how long it will take, the cost, what follow up services there might be etc.
